How Agarwood Forms: From Wound to Resin
Wounding triggers it
Agarwood comes from Aquilaria trees. When wounded by insects, storms or human work, the tree secretes resin and invites specific fungi. Over years the resin and fungal metabolites condense into fragrant, oil-rich heartwood.
No wound, no agarwood
Ordinary wood is nearly oil-free; the scented part is the wounded, resinous core. That rarity is why wild agarwood is scarce. This is general science, not investment advice.
