Xiangcheng was compiled by the Ming scholar Zhou Jiazhou (style Jiangzuo, of Yangzhou). He first gathered 13 scrolls of incense literature, then spent over twenty years expanding it into 28 volumes, published in 1641 with his own prefaces.
