Six Projects Signed as the Industry Framework Takes Shape

On November 1, the 'Chengmai Fragrant World' agarwood investment promotion conference was held in Dafeng, Chengmai, Hainan, as a key session of the 2026 Chengmai International Economic and Trade Fair. Six agarwood industry projects were signed on site, spanning financial credit, standardized cultivation, deep processing, warehousing, full industry chain development and wellness tourism. Officials from the Hainan Forestry Bureau noted that agarwood is a flagship forestry industry for the province, with standards, traceability, authentication and branding systems being improved under Free Trade Port policies, alongside plans for an international agarwood trading center.

At the conference, Chengmai county presented its industry report card: 36,000 mu (about 2,400 hectares) of agarwood plantations, the world's first agarwood industry college, China's first agarwood price index, and the province's first ancient agarwood tree park. Supporting policies include planting subsidies, a 20 billion yuan special credit line and comprehensive agarwood insurance, with projects such as an agarwood exhibition center and a 'super property rights' traceability code in the pipeline. Observers note that the 'Home of Chinese Agarwood' is driving the industry's transformation from specialty incense products into a pillar industry for rural revitalization through coordinated development of policy, technology, supply chain and culture-tourism integration.
