Dianbai District of Maoming Pioneers Seven-Step Full-Chain Supervision for Agarwood with a New Traceability System

A seven-step closed loop: a legal 'identity card' for every piece of agarwood

According to Nanfang Daily, Dianbai District of Maoming has issued the Pilot Work Plan for Full-Chain Supervision and Management of Cultivated Agarwood in Dianbai District, establishing China's first end-to-end mechanism covering filing, harvesting, yield assessment, raw-material origin certification, processing yield accounting, finished-product origin certification and filing updates, supported by a dedicated traceability system. Processing enterprises can now issue agricultural purchase invoices on the basis of filing records and legally obtain VAT deduction vouchers. The cultivated-agarwood origin certificate, together with the forest felling permit, forms the core proof of legal raw-material identity and is a key document for obtaining CITES import and export permits for endangered species.

From a regulatory foundation to an industrial cluster: output above 8 billion yuan

Dianbai is China's largest hub for agarwood cultivation, processing and trade. In 2025 the Maoming agarwood industry chain reached 11.09 billion yuan in output value with more than 12,000 market entities and 150,000 jobs. In May 2026 the 'Hundred-Mile Agarwood' town-village cluster was selected in Guangdong's first batch of cultivation clusters: about 65 square kilometres across Guanzhu and Shalang towns, nine administrative villages and roughly 200,000 residents. Forty-five projects with 2.432 billion yuan of planned investment are underway, targeting more than 100 new agarwood market entities and 3,000 new jobs in 2026.
