Maoming Agarwood Shines at the 140th Canton Fair: 80+ International Buyers Meet Face to Face as Export Channels Widen

A concentrated showcase for international buyers

According to Nanfang Daily, on the afternoon of 24 October a Maoming agarwood industry international economic and trade exchange took place at the 140th Canton Fair, featuring company roadshows, incense-culture demonstrations and one-to-one business matching. The event drew more than 80 international buying delegations and industry representatives from the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Europe and the Americas, and multiple cooperation intents were reached. Local companies including Guangdong Nongken Shuguang Farm, Guangdong Junyuan Chenxiangshan TCM Decoction Pieces and Maoming Yufeng Agarwood Creative Industry presented supply, deep-processing and cultural-creative cooperation plans, while Guangdong Haoxintang Agriculture and Forestry Technology staged an incense-ceremony performance illustrating the full chain from improved seedlings and artificial resin induction to deep processing and incense-themed tourism.

From intent to orders: the export channel is open

Known as the "hometown of Chinese agarwood", Maoming is the country's largest hub for agarwood cultivation, processing and trade, with products spanning daily chemicals, handicrafts, burning incense, tea, essential oil and decoction pieces — seven categories and more than 100 varieties. In 2025 the full industry chain reached 11.09 billion yuan in output value, with more than 12,000 agarwood-related market entities employing 150,000 people. On exports, Dianbai companies including Yufeng, Senhai, Shuguang and Jiuzhou obtained export licence qualifications in 2025; that year Dianbai exported 2.95 tonnes of agarwood to markets such as Saudi Arabia, worth 1.5401 million yuan, and in the first half of 2026 Dianbai's agarwood exports reached 1.0661 million yuan. At the spring Canton Fair in May, Dianbai enterprises signed intent contracts worth USD 950,000, mainly with buyers from the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

Cross-border compliance note

All species of Aquilaria and Gyrinops are listed in CITES Appendix II. Agarwood products leaving or entering a country require a CITES permit and customs declaration. After the exchange, many buyers planned field visits to Maoming's plantations and processing plants, with cooperation intent extending from raw material sourcing to processing and cultural-creative products.
