Maoming Agarwood Meets 80+ Overseas Buyers at the 140th Canton Fair

What happened

According to Southern Daily and other media reports, on the afternoon of 24 October 2026 a Maoming agarwood industry trade exchange took place inside the 140th Canton Fair venue. Company roadshows, incense-culture demonstrations and one-to-one business matchmaking drew more than 80 international buying missions and industry delegates from the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Europe and the Americas, with several cooperation intentions signed. For Maoming producers it was a concentrated showcase before international buyers; for the buyers, a chance to smell, inspect samples and negotiate orders directly.

The industrial base behind it

Maoming, known as China's hometown of agarwood, is the country's largest hub for agarwood planting, processing and trading. Its chain covers seedling breeding, resin induction, processing R&D, cultural-creative development and export trade, spanning seven major categories and more than 100 product types including daily chemicals, crafts, incense, tea, essential oils and prepared slices. Public figures show the full-chain output value reached 11.09 billion yuan in 2025, with over 12,000 agarwood-related business entities and 150,000 people employed. Local firms including Guangdong Nongken Shuguang Farm, Junyuan and Yufeng presented plans on raw material supply, deep processing and cultural-creative development.

The export channel: opened, then made sustainable

The Middle East has long-standing, stable demand for agarwood, but Maoming previously lacked a formal export route. In 2025, companies including Yufeng, Senhai, Shuguang and Jiuzhou obtained export qualifications; Dianbai district exported 2.95 tonnes of agarwood to Saudi Arabia and other destinations that year, worth 1.5401 million yuan, with 1.0661 million yuan recorded in the first half of 2026. The volumes remain modest, but the channel is open, and supporting guidelines now close the loop from planting registration and yield assessment to origin certificates and CITES permits. For companies, going global is no longer about finding buyers but about holding documents that withstand verification.
