In 2025, the output value of Maoming's full agarwood industry chain reached 11.09 billion yuan, with more than 12,000 agarwood-related businesses supporting 150,000 jobs.
Export channel just opened, volumes still ramping up
The Middle East has long-standing, stable demand for agarwood, but Maoming lacked a formal export channel until recently. Dianbai district, the core production area, led the breakthrough: in 2025 companies including Yufeng, Senhai, Shuguang and Jiuzhou obtained export licences, and Dianbai shipped 2.95 tonnes of agarwood to Saudi Arabia and other markets, worth 1.5401 million yuan. In the first half of 2026, Dianbai's agarwood exports reached 1.0661 million yuan. Small against a ten-billion-yuan industry, but the corridor is now open.
