Dianbai Agarwood Industry Posts 4.35 Billion Yuan H1 Output, Eyes 10 Billion Goal

Industrial Profile of China's Agarwood Hometown

According to local media, a CPPCC delegation in Dianbai conducted a thematic inspection of the agarwood industry on 29 September, visiting planting bases in Guanzhu town, the Shadong agarwood center and several processing enterprises. Agarwood cultivation in Dianbai dates back more than 1,500 years to the Sui and Tang dynasties. As of the end of June 2026, planted area exceeded 160,000 mu (about 10,700 hectares), with over 12,000 operating entities and more than 100,000 people employed in the sector.

In the first half of 2026 the full industrial chain generated roughly 4.35 billion yuan, of which primary production accounted for about 969 million yuan. The district has developed more than one hundred products across seven categories, including daily chemicals, handicrafts, incense, tea and fragrances.

From Raw Material to Cultural Value

Inspectors recommended strengthening science and technology support, closing gaps in deep processing, tightening market order and standards, raising the credibility of the local agarwood testing center, and deepening a culture-plus-experience-plus-consumption model. Leveraging Hong Kong and Macao channels to reach the Greater Bay Area and overseas markets was also highlighted.
