Third Agarwood and Huanghuali International Trade Fair Opens in Haikou in November with 50,000 sqm Exhibition Space

Scale and Preparations

According to a press conference held by the Hainan provincial government, the Third Agarwood and Huanghuali (Dalbergia odorifera) International Trade Fair will run from 21 to 24 November 2026 at the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center, with a planned exhibition area of 50,000 square meters, up from the previous two editions. Under the theme "Five Charms Shining Together, Fragrance Connecting the World", the event extends beyond agarwood, huanghuali and dalbergia to include ornamental stones, jewellery, ceramics, tea, coffee and cultural-creative products, forming an integrated platform for exhibition, trading, appraisal, industry matchmaking and cultural experience. Exhibitor recruitment now stands at 87%, with nearly 5,000 high-quality buyer records collected and promotion, warm-up events and guest invitations fully under way.

Incense Competition and Industry Partnerships

The flagship feature, the Third Incense Competition themed "Annual Dialogue, Natural Colours of China", covers three tracks — huanghuali, agarwood and dalbergia — plus a cultural-creative design contest. Since submissions opened in August it has received close to 150 entries, with related topics drawing more than 770,000 online views and over 410,000 public votes. Semi-finals and finals will be held on site on 21–22 November, judged by industry experts, scholars and company representatives; winners receive traceability certificates, cash prizes, booth discounts and official promotional support. The organising committee has signed cooperation agreements with the Hainan Arts and Crafts Association, the Dianbai Agarwood Federation of Maoming, the Guangxi Agarwood Association, the Xiamen Agarwood Industry Association and several other bodies.

Industry Context and Outlook

Since its launch in 2024, the fair has received 123,000 visitors, generated 1.377 billion yuan in combined sales and more than 10 billion yuan in signed project cooperation, and has been written into Hainan Province's 15th Five-Year Plan for the service industry alongside the China International Consumer Products Expo and the China Tropical Agricultural Products Fair as a provincially prioritised branded exhibition. Industry observers note that China's agarwood sector is at a critical stage of consolidation and quality upgrading, in urgent need of standardisation, clustering and internationalisation, and that the open policy advantages of the Hainan Free Trade Port provide a pivot for connecting producing regions across China with buyers worldwide.
