Common Fakes 1: Oil-Soaking and Oil-Injection
How it’s faked
Soaking: wood steeped in perfume or oil, shiny and pungent; injection: oil pressed into pores under pressure to fake sink and "oil lines". Both fool the appearance-only buyer.
How to spot
Soaked pieces smell stiff and harsh, dry out later; injected ones have too-even lines and black smoke when burned. Combine smell, burn and oil-line checks. ID science; verify in person.
