Burn a Bit: Smoke and Aftertaste Tell Truth
How to burn
Take a tiny sliver, heat or light it. Natural agarwood smokes bluish-white, sweet-cool with a woody base, clean non-astringent finish; oilier pieces last longer.
Abnormal signs
Thick black smoke, plastic/glue smell, bitter astringent aftertaste—usually oil-injection, glue-fill or scent added. Destructive, so judge with earlier steps first. ID science.
