Tianxiang Zhuan ("Account of Heavenly Fragrance") was written by Ding Wei, a Northern Song chancellor exiled to Yazhou (today’s Sanya, Hainan), where he observed agarwood harvesting firsthand.

It systematically describes origins (prizing Hainan), resin formation, aroma grades and identification, distinguishing chenxiang, jianxiang and huangshu types.
Legacy
It is the earliest extant systematic treatise on agarwood, shaping later connoisseurship.
